Synod in action

Implementation of Synod Values through 2003/2004 within each ZAK group

Service

  • Preparing and taking care of a group is in itself a service to the Parish. Be prepared to give commitment, serving as it should be and not in a hurry to finish the job

  • Animation during Mass

  • Attending the Parish council meetings where suggestions can be given and also have some space dedicated to the youth

  • Participation in a choir or something similar

Communion

  • Being part of society is a communion in itself

  • Primarily the group must have clear aims and principles. The group must work together and all must be involved. Group must work as a whole group rather than having sub-groups

  • Organising activities along with the other groups in the Parish

  • Good communication with the Parish, local council and other groups

  • Celebrating Mass along with other groups in the Parish

  • Involving ourselves in activities organised by other groups in the Parish

  • Marathon involving other groups in the Parish

Dialogue

  • Meetings with other groups in the Parish to see what can be organised together

  • Games which are open to everyone promoting informal dialogue

  • Live-ins

  • Forums which can be organised on various topics

  • Participation in the Parish council

  • Meetings held every 2 months between the different groups to share information

  • Emphases the importance of processing after activities

Solidarity

  • Fund raising activities where the proceeds will be donated to those in need

  • Helping with maintenance in homes

  • Spending a day at an old people's home

  • Working to have more solidarity in our own group

  • More attention give to social activities

  • Activities organised for residents of homes

  • Removal of sub-groups in the group so that all can work together

Formation

  • We must consider the word formation on a practical level, how I can influence others with my actions and words

  • Each part of the weekly meeting is important, including the processing from where we can learn a lot

  • At the beginning of the meeting we show what our aims are and how we will proceed with the meeting

  • Giving importance to discussions

  • Preparing an activity is just as important as the activity itself and therefore we should keep everyone involved and interested

  • Leaving time for feedback after the activities

  • A good conclusion for the meeting is presented right at the end

Evangelisation

  • Organisation of a 'youth week'

  • Spiritual exercises - not only for ZAK members but for the whole Parish

  • Mass from the teenagers for the teenagers

  • Evangelisation with those who are in need - explaining what our religion is to those who are not so involved

  • Leaders must be the first to give good examples
