On Saturday 28th November 2009, Sarah Caruana was awarded the national award, Youth of the Year 2009 by Malta’s Acting President Dr. Anton Tabone. This award is organised annually by Oasi Foundation and is aimed at recognizing young people’s contribution to society.
Sarah was chosen as the winner among eight other nominees, coming from all-over Malta. Among the motivations for choosing Sarah for this award, the board of judges pointed out her dedication towards her day-to-day life commitments, her ability and willingness to be of service to those around her, to be of an example by means of her leadership, her honesty and professionalism in her work and the commitment she gave in Malta and abroad.
The ceremony took place at Ta’ Ċenċ hotel, Gozo, and was presided by Acting President Dr. Anton Tabone. Hon. Minister Giovanna Debono, Hon. Chris Said and Gozo’s Bishop Mario Grech were also present for this event.
Sarah’s nominee was backed by the Tarxien Parish Priest, Fr. Reuben Deguara and the Tarxien Mayor Mr. Paul Farrugia.
