The first meeting ever to be held by ŻAK in Birkirkara was on Friday, 14th June 2002. The first group was for youth who were aged 16 or over. On 7th of March 2003, a group for 14-16 year olds was opened. The 16+ group stopped meeting in September 2003, but some of the members of this group became youth leaders. In September of 2004 two new groups opened, one for those born in 1993 and one for those born in 1991/1992. The groups meet at the 'Cirkolo San Ġwakkin' for their weekly meetings.

The eldest group participated in a youth exchange, first in 2006 by going to Slovakia for the exchange 'Salmon's Art: Against the mainstream' with the Slovak group eRko, then in 2007 when the Slovak group came to Malta for the second part of the project with the exchange 'Stop and Stare?... The Thursday group has participated in an exchange along with ŻAK Iklin & ŻAK St. Julian's with an Italian group. The project started in 2008 in Malta with the exchange 'Fit' and continued in Italy in 2009 with the exchange 'Journey to the centre of myself'.
