ZAK Paola Lourdes is a place where the members who attend the meetings regularly have the ability to make friends have fun and socialise.

There are 3 groups of young people at the moment, with the ages ranging from 14 to 19 years. The groups are split up as youths, pre-youths and teens. The total number of young people attending a group from ZAK Paola Lourdes adds up to about 35. The meetings of ZAK Lourdes are facilitated by leaders (who are still young themselves!!!). The meetings of the older group are sometimes held by members from the group itself. On the other hand the pre-youths’ sometimes organise the meetings themselves with the help of one of the leaders and the teens’ meetings are facilitated by 2 leaders. The meetings usually consist of a small game to get the mood started then it is continued with the topic of the day. This could vary from being a discussion to a small activity. The meeting usually ends with some sort of short reflections or a prayer.

The older group has been meeting consistently every Thursday for the past 5 years. The youths’ group has been meeting also every Thursday for about 3 years, while the teens meet every Friday and have just had their first birthday as a ZAK group.

The youths from Paola Lourdes consistently take part in activities organised by ZAK Malta and by other ZAK groups, while also taking the initiative to organise fun activities themselves. Amongst the activities organised by our group there is the yearly car wash, live-ins for each group, BBQ’s for our members and also parties organised completely by group members!!

All in all, as any member of ZAK Paola Lourdes can say, being a member of our group, leads towards a fun filled, learning experience, that is difficult to forget!

Meeting Information.

Teens BBQ - In July the Teens of ZAK Paola Lourdes organised a BBQ between themselves. Each member had a task which they had to do. Someone bought the meat, another person did the salads, 2 other members were in charge of cooking... etc. 2 of the members were in charge or organising some small reflections, which were a nice way to end up an evening together. Everyone had fun and this activity managed to create a better bond between the members of the group.

Teens day out at Comino - In August, the youngest members decided that they would like to organise a day out together. After a lot of brainstorming, it was decided that we would spend the day at Comino! When the day came, everyone woke up early... and we managed to meet near the Parish Church at around 7.30am! After a long trip by van, we caught the ferry to Comino, and we berthed at one of the beaches. From there we picked up a trial ( we needed a bit of help, so we ended up asking the police for directions!!) and managed to walk around Comino to arrive at the Blue Lagoon, where we spent the day swimming, eating and getting to know each other a bit better.

For this activity, some of the older members decided to join in as well. After a long day, we caught the ferry back to Malta and although the sea turned out to be a bit rough, we managed to arrive back safe and sound... although a bit wet! However, this was a nice ending to a great summer filled with interesting meetings and activities! The next activity that our members had to look forward to was the annual Summer Camp!
