ŻAK Ħal Tarxien

ZAK Hal Tarxien is a youth group comprising young people from 10 years an over. These young people are divided into 6 groups, all having one meeting per week at Dar Nazaret.

Each week, every group starts their meeting by playing some games, all together, for roughly half an hour. After that, each meeting usually starts with a few minutes of reflection time which is followed by the actual meeting which takes less than an hour. The reflection is a prayer which takes the form of a short story or song. The older groups usually prepare these reflections themselves. The meetings vary from discussions, to role-plays, and prayer meetings, all in a creative and original method, in which each member participates. The topics tackled each week vary according to the members’ age. However, such topics include self-esteem, friendship, values, forgiveness, media, the environment, communication, relationships and team-building.

The 6 groups consist of ZAK Juniors, ZAK Pre-Teens, ZAK Teens, ZAK Pre-Youths, ZAK 16+ and ZAK 18+. ZAK Juniors (born 1999) meet every Monday from 5.30pm to 7pm. ZAK Pre-Teens (born 1997) meet every Wednesday from 5.30pm to 7pm. Young boys and girls born during 1996 (ZAK Teens) meet on Thursday from 5.30pm to 7pm. On Wednesdays, from 7.30pm to 9pm, ZAK Pre-Youths) meet. This group is made up of boys and girls born between 1993 and 1994.

ZAK 16+ meet every Tuesday from 7.30pm to 9pm. This group comprises young people both boys and girls, born between 1991 and 1992. ZAK 18+ members are aged over 16 and were born between 1988 and 1990 meet every Thursday from 7.30pm onwards.

ZAK Hal Tarxien organizes a mass every 4th Saturday of the month. The mass is held at 6.00pm (6.30pm in the summer) at the Parish Church. During the year we also organise several activities that range from BBQs, cook-outs hikes, shows, and live-ins, to lent exercises, Christmas novena, and many others. ZAK Hal Tarxien’s main aim is building a team, because we believe that if a team is not built, the group would not be capable of working together. Therefore several members not only attend one meeting every week but also manage to find a group of true friends.
