The saying is that a few can do a lot - and that was certainly the case with Energise with style -> 2009. A very small planning team had just 1 month to put together this activity, and this they did with style, creativity and innovation. Of course the actual day was a long one for the organisers. During the morning they had help to prepare the food for the evening. By early afternoon this job was done and everything had been transported to the seminary, our location this year. During the afternoon seats, atmosphere and sound was set up for the Mass and the sound was set up for the party. Other things were prepared, however as the team was not very big things were kept as simple as possible. Thanks also to the seminary rector we were allowed to use the seminary kitchen and therefore meant less things to transport. The first apparent change was that the Mass was held outside. Thankfully the weather held up to allow this. The Mass included a mime, a music mix and a larger band than usual with various instruments including a drum kit. Since it was outside we also had some bonfires, which were used as part of the mime and also to heat up a pot of hot chocolate - most welcom at the end of the Mass. Everyone then transferred inside where there was music to dance to while enjoying the food which had been prepared earlier in the day. Modern music, some classic music and other favourites were all included in the playlist and those present enjoyed the dancing. The end of the music was not the end of the day as many ZAK members stayed to help pack up, clean up and leave everything as we found it. With everything done at the seminary, it was off to ZAK house to put things back in their place, thus ending Energise. A BIG well done to all those who put a lot of effort into the preparations, those who helped out on the day and last but not least to those who attended, without whom all the work would have been done but not appreciated. |
