ZAK Village

ZAK Village held on the 16th of November 2008 was the first activity organised by ZAK St.Venera in the Parish centre. The aim of this activity was to promote ZAK as the organisation and also ZAK St. Venera which is one of the few youth organisations in St.Venera. Since this was the first activity a lot of enthusiasm was present too. all of the teens worked together and produced good ideas which eventually were held on the day. On the day which I may recall was a very early one, everyone woke up at 6:30am and at 7:00am we were all ready to prepare some last minute stands.

ZAK VILLAGE opened at 8:30am here people could enjoy various stands prepared by the members such as the ZAK Exhibition, Food and Drinks,Games, cake sale, Kids Corner and also the Chapel was prepared for the prayer corner. The activity was held up to 1:30pm and during this time the number of people was flowing throughout the whole time. Some stopped by out of curiousity and later had a cup of tea and a piece of cake. This activty was a great success, although alot of work was included, everybody was happy with the result and it inspired us to dream of another activity.
So until then I stop here!

Energise with style -> 2009 write-up

The saying is that a few can do a lot - and that was certainly the case with Energise with style -> 2009. A very small planning team had just 1 month to put together this activity, and this they did with style, creativity and innovation.

Of course the actual day was a long one for the organisers. During the morning they had help to prepare the food for the evening. By early afternoon this job was done and everything had been transported to the seminary, our location this year. During the afternoon seats, atmosphere and sound was set up for the Mass and the sound was set up for the party. Other things were prepared, however as the team was not very big things were kept as simple as possible. Thanks also to the seminary rector we were allowed to use the seminary kitchen and therefore meant less things to transport.

The first apparent change was that the Mass was held outside. Thankfully the weather held up to allow this. The Mass included a mime, a music mix and a larger band than usual with various instruments including a drum kit. Since it was outside we also had some bonfires, which were used as part of the mime and also to heat up a pot of hot chocolate - most welcom at the end of the Mass.

Everyone then transferred inside where there was music to dance to while enjoying the food which had been prepared earlier in the day. Modern music, some classic music and other favourites were all included in the playlist and those present enjoyed the dancing.

The end of the music was not the end of the day as many ZAK members stayed to help pack up, clean up and leave everything as we found it. With everything done at the seminary, it was off to ZAK house to put things back in their place, thus ending Energise.

A BIG well done to all those who put a lot of effort into the preparations, those who helped out on the day and last but not least to those who attended, without whom all the work would have been done but not appreciated.
